Dr. Jayanthi Srinivasiah, Dr. Janice Galleshaw, and Dr. Wendy Hawke recently appeared in Atlanta Woman magazine about “Top Women Doctors” in the Atlanta area. Georgia Cancer Specialists’ Drs. Srinivasiah and Galleshaw accounted for two of only three women physicians singled out as “Top Docs” in the field of hematology/oncology in the March/April 2003 publication.
GCS Chief Operations Officer, Dr. Wendy Hawke, appears in the story with comments on the emphasis GCS puts on recruiting women and minorities.
Dr. Srinivasiah, known as “Dr. Jay” to her patients, was one of only three physicians from all specialties who received a feature story in the magazine from a list of 60 “Top Women Doctors in Metro Atlanta.”
Dr. Jay appears in a story titled “The Best Medicine is a Woman,” an article by writer Mickey Goodman that discusses reports that more people are choosing women physicians than ever before.
“I laugh with my patients when the laboratory report is good and cry with them when it is bad,” Dr. Jay said in the story.
Dr. Jay is pictured three times in the magazine, including once in the table of contents. One of her patients is quoted in the story as well.
Dr. Galleshaw is included in a directory list of Top Docs that supplements the articles.
The “Top Doctors” list was compiled by Washington, D.C.-based Consumers Checkbook, a nonprofit research organization that surveyed more than 250,000 doctors nationwide. The survey asked physicians to recommend the specialist that he or she would “consider most desirable for care of a loved one.”
Both Dr. Jay and Dr. Galleshaw have previously been recognized as “Top Doctors” by other publications.
