On October 19, Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) welcomed Dr. Victoria Afshani to the practice and bid a fond farewell to Dr. Richard Leff with a German-themed “Doctoberfest” open house at the GCS Rockdale office. Dr. Leff is departing after nearly 15 years of service with the practice.
Even with rain forcing the celebration inside, attendance was high and the atmosphere was festive. The event gave physicians from all specialties in the area a chance to stop by and welcome Dr. Afshani and say goodbye to Dr. Leff.
“The reception was wonderful,” said Dr. Afshani. “The food, music, and decorations were great, and it was nice to get a chance to meet some of the local physicians.”
GCS CEO Dr. Bruce Feinberg and COO Dr. Wendy Hawke were on hand to show their support for Drs. Afshani and Leff.
“The weather definitely did not damper the mood of the open house, as spirits were high and attitudes were gracious,” said Dr. Leff, who will be joining the Network for Medical Communication and Research. “Fortunately, the position I’m taking at my new company will allow me to stay in contact with many of the people I’ve met in the community over the years.”
The open house featured German food and drinks, such as bratwurst and potato salad, a live accordion player, and Octoberfest decorations.
