Dr. Bruce Feinberg, CEO of Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS), was recognized for his professional and charitable efforts recently at the Community Health Charities of Georgia’s (CHCG) 5th Annual Recognition Event. The awards ceremony was held April 27 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center in Roswell, Georgia.
CHCG presented Dr. Feinberg with the Health Advancement Patient Services Award for his commitment to provide unique medical services for cancer patients. Dr. Feinberg, who practices at the GCS Rockdale office, was instrumental in creating integrated patient care services at Georgia Cancer Specialists by combining the expertise of medical and radiation oncologists, hematologists, nutritionists, and social workers in one specialty practice.
“Cancer patients and their loved ones require so much more care and kindness than can be given in an oncologist’s office,” said Dr. Feinberg. “It is only through the efforts and energies of committed volunteers and agencies like the Georgia Cancer Foundation, Bosom Buddies, and other health charities that these needs can be met.”
GCF Executive Director Brenda Horne and Bosom Buddies of Georgia Director Vicki Castleberry nominated Dr. Feinberg, who serves on the board of directors of both organizations.
“Dr. Feinberg is an extremely innovative and skilled physician as well as a valuable member of the governing bodies for both nonprofit agencies,” said Horne. “We wanted to recognize his ongoing commitment to cancer patients and the community.”
CHCG created this event in an effort to award individuals and organizations who have made a difference in the health and quality of life of Georgians. The organization provides funding to 82 local health charities, including GCF and Bosom Buddies.
