Sixteen Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) physicians and more than 20 GCS staff members recently participated in the Georgia Cancer Foundation’s (GCF) Cancer Screening Day, the Southeast’s largest and most comprehensive FREE cancer screening event.
A record 1,500 people were screened for breast, skin, colon, and prostate cancers on April 24 at 16 locations throughout Atlanta and North Georgia, including 12 GCS offices.
“Early detection is the most effective way to beat cancer,” said GCS CEO Dr. Bruce Feinberg. “I am excited that our physicians continue to demonstrate their commitment to saving lives by volunteering to participate in Cancer Screening Day.”
Since 1999, GCF has performed more than 10,000 screenings for almost 5,500 people and detected more than 1,300 abnormal results. GCS has supported and participated in every Cancer Screening Day.
This year, participating GCS physicians included Drs. Rodolfo Bordoni, Daniel Carr, Bruce Feinberg, Carlos Franco, Bruce Goldsweig, Pradeep Jolly, Bancroft Lesesne, Richard Loyd, Melvin Moore, Vundyala Reddy, Mansoor Saleh, Jayanthi Srinivasiah, Gena Volas-Redd, William Whaley, and Lynn Zemsky.
GCS will also participate in a second GCF Cancer Screening Day, which will be held September 18 and focus on East and Central Georgia.
