Georgia Cancer Specialists physician Dr. Cheryl Jones was recently interviewed for an article about the economic impact of the health care industry in Macon, Georgia. The article appeared in the January/February issue of Address Macon magazine.
The article makes mention of the Georgia Center for Total Cancer Care at Macon Coliseum, a comprehensive cancer care center that offers oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, radiology, dermatology and a full pharmacy to the Macon community.
“Due to the multidisciplinary nature of modern cancer therapy, the field of oncology requires high quality sub-specialties support for surgery, pulmonary, gastroenterology, urology, cardiology and infectious disease just to mention a few,” Dr. Jones was quoted as saying. “Macon is fortunate to have strong hospital systems and a complete medical society with highly trained, board certified physicians representing all medical and surgical sub-specialties.”
The Georgia Centers for Total Cancer Care are comprehensive cancer care facilities where patients can have access to many of the services associated with cancer treatment, including medical oncology, hematology, oncology radiation, radiology, and dermatology. Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS), the largest private oncology/hematology practice in the Southeast, and Atlanta Oncology Associates (AOA), one of the largest radiation therapy groups in the Southeast, provide cancer care for the centers. GCTCCs are currently located in Macon, Blairsville, and Hawkinsville.
