Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) physician Dr. Laronna Colbert recently passed the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Certification Exam in Medical Oncology. Dr. Colbert offers comprehensive cancer care at the GCS Stemmer office in Decatur and the GCS Hillandale office in Lithonia.
“I’m happy to have taken this next step in my career,” said Dr. Colbert.
According to its website, ABIM certifications are recognized throughout the world as signifying excellence in the practice of internal medicine, its subspecialties, and areas of added qualifications. These certifications demonstrate that a doctor has met vigorous standards through intensive study, self-assessment, and evaluation.
Although the ABIM certification is a highly respected achievement throughout the medical community, it is not required in order to practice oncology.
