On Thursday, November 16, Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) physician Dr. Cheryl Jones appeared on the Macon NBC affiliate WMGT for a two-part news story on lung cancer screening and treatment. The story was run as a part of National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, which occurs each November.
“With early detection and advanced treatment, lung cancer doesn’t have to be the death sentence it is viewed as,” said Dr. Jones. “I was thrilled to be able to stress the importance of screenings on this broadcast.”
Dr. Jones appeared alongside Dr. Kelly Drake of Atlanta Oncology Associates, as well as a GCS lung cancer patient, for the broadcast. The story focused on the early detection of lung cancer through CT scans, and the success of treatment if the disease is caught in its beginning stages.
Dr. Jones offers comprehensive cancer care at the GCS Macon and Lake Oconee offices.
