Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS)—the largest private oncology/hematology practice in the southeast—now offers comprehensive cancer care in Clarke County, with the recent opening of its newest office in Athens.
“We’re thrilled at the opening of our Athens office,” said Dr. Bruce Feinberg, GCS president and CEO. “Clarke County’s cancer patients are getting the very best in cancer care.”
GCS physicians Dr. Cheryl Jones, Dr. Richard Loyd, and Dr. Laura Weakland are practicing at the new Athens office.
“I’m proud to be a part of our expansion into Clarke County,” said Jones, who also practices at GCS Cowles Clinic office at Lake Oconee. “Each new office allows us to offer state-of-the-art cancer care to more patients, including access to the most current clinical trials, offered no where else in Georgia.”
Dr. Loyd, who also sees patients at the Lawrenceville GCS office, looks forward to practicing in Athens. “It represents one more step in our effort to provide the best possible treatment to all of Georgia’s cancer patients,” he said.
“GCS believes in providing whole body care by incorporating family counseling and education, nutritional support and even genetic testing into our cancer care treatment plans,” said Dr. Weakland. “In this way, we commit to a more comprehensive approach to the cancer patient and their family.” Weakland also practices at the Cowles Clinic in Lake Oconee.
GCS is an in-network provider of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, and accepts Medicare and most insurance. For appointments, patients may call GCS toll-free at (866) 404-9991.
