Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) physician Dr. Jorge Leguizamo locked up the title of “Smartest Oncologist in the Nation” during the recent “Hematologic Malignancies Demystified” conference. The series of conferences – held in Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, and Houston – are a review and critical appraisal of data from ASH (American Society of Hematology) and other 2008 conferences.
During the live, one-day sessions (which were held on different days in the four cities), physicians at all four locations participated in the contest multiple times throughout the day, accumulating points for correct answers. At the end of the conferences, the points were added up and Dr. Leguizamo was named “Smartest Oncologist in the Nation” at the Atlanta conference and also scored the highest out of all physicians in the four cities.
“Not only did I enjoy the conference, but walking away with the title of ‘Smartest Oncologist’ is pretty special, especially considering the company I was in,” said Dr. Leguizamo.
Dr. Leguizamo practices at the GCS Eastside (Snellville) and Gwinnett (Lawrenceville) offices. He is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology, and his areas of special interest are clinical trials and oncology research.
