Georgia Cancer Specialists clinical research coordinator Candice Griffith, R.N., was featured in a recent “Why I Love My Job” feature with Pulse magazine. The article focused on Griffith’s responsibilities working at the GCS-Northside office in Sandy Springs, and she discussed how she first became interested in the field, the challenges associated with insurance, and how critical thinking skills are vital to success in this position.
“When you’re told to do something in a clinical trial, you have to ask yourself whether it’s good clinical practice or is it in the best interest of the patient,” Griffith told the reporter. “In talking with patients, you begin to see trends in how the drug interacts with other drugs.”
The clinical research program at Georgia Cancer Specialists focuses on making targeted cancer therapy accessible to as many patients as possible. With four research sites in Metro Atlanta and Macon, GCS patients across the state are able to take part in the trials. GCS offers clinical trials to target lung cancer, breast cancer, lymphoma, colon cancer, and prostate cancer.
