Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS)—a Top 10 private cancer practice in the U.S.—continues to grow and expand its services with the addition of Dr. Justin M. Cole. Dr. Cole is board certified in hematology and clinical pathology, and joins GCS following the completion of a PhD program at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles – one of the world’s leading cancer research and treatment programs.
GCS is one of the first oncology practices in the country to incorporate a dedicated pathologist as part of their treatment team. Hematopathologists receive intensive training in analyzing tissue samples to accurately diagnose cancer and blood disorders. Dr. Cole will assist GCS’s medical oncologists in rapid assessment of conditions being treated to quickly intervene with appropriate chemotherapy.
GCS now has 45 physicians and 29 offices.
“We are excited to have Dr. Cole at GCS,” said Dr. J. Bancroft Lesesne, president and interim CEO of GCS. “With his training in hematology and pathology, he brings a much-needed perspective and skill set to GCS.”
“Georgia Cancer Specialists is such a well-known and respected practice, and one I’m proud to now be a part of,” said Dr. Cole. “I’m thrilled to return to Georgia for this next chapter in my career.”
Dr. Cole completed his residency at Emory University and his fellowship at both Emory University and the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine. His areas of special interest are flow cytometry, bone marrow pathology, and molecular pathology.
Dr. Cole is a member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP), and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
