September 19, 2011 (ATLANTA) — Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) physician Dr. John Manfredi was honored Sept. 18 at Turner Field during the 5th Annual Atlanta Braves Breast Cancer Awareness Day as a recipient of the 2011 Atlanta Braves Diamond of Hope Award.
The award honors medical professionals and caregivers who have made an impact in the lives of breast cancer survivors. Dr. Manfredi was nominated by the daughter of one of his patients.
“Dr. Manfredi is an amazing physician,” she said. “He watches after my mom so carefully, but also dedicates his life to promoting quality of life for all his patients. He always has such a sweet demeanor and carries a smile on his face as he talks with each of his patients.”
Dr. Manfredi accepted the award during a pre-game reception before the Braves took on the New York Mets.
Dr. Manfredi practices at the GCS office in Blairsville. He says of the award, “It is a great honor to be recognized for this award by the Braves. It is even more special to me knowing that one of my patients nominated me.” He continued, “It is very important to me to know that I have made a difference in her life.”
