Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS)—a Top 10 private cancer practice in the U.S.—continues to grow and expand its services with the addition of Dr. Ruth Sarmiento to its Spivey Station (7823 Spivey Station Blvd., Suite 300, Jonesboro; 770-692-9371) and Camp Creek (3886 Princeton Lakes Way SW, Suite 200, Atlanta; 404-349-7300) locations. Dr. Sarmiento is board certified in oncology, internal medicine, hospice, and palliative medicine.
GCS now has 45 physicians and 31 offices.
“We are so pleased that Dr. Sarmiento has joined the GCS team,” said Dr. J. Bancroft Lesesne, president and interim CEO of GCS. “Her personalized and intentional approach to patient care aligns perfectly with our practice’s mission.”
Dr. Sarmiento will join Dr. Laura L. Weakland and Dr. Gerald A. Goldklang at the GCS-Camp Creek office.
“I’ve worked for eight years at my own small practice, and I’m looking forward to the resources available at GCS,” Dr. Sarmiento said. “I chose to join GCS because, even though it’s a large practice, the physicians and staff see patients as individuals. That’s something that is very important to the kind of medicine I practice.”
Dr. Sarmiento completed her fellowship at Emory University and her residency at Saint John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI. She received her medical degree from American University School of Medicine in Plymouth, Montserrat. Her areas of special interest are breast and colon cancer.
Dr. Sarmiento is a member of the Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology and the National Oncology Alliance.
