Dr. Patel graduated top of her medical school class. During residency she was awarded first place for her research in breast and colon cancer screening in the insured and uninsured populations. She also presented research on Follicular Lymphoma at the American Society of Hematology national conference during her residency. Dr. Patel grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and moved to Atlanta after marrying her husband Jay Patel.
