Pain when passing urine, blood in the urine or a change in bladder function (such as needing to pass urine more or less often than usual) could be related to bladder or prostate cancer. Contact your physician if you are experiencing these symptoms.
It is recommended that screening for prostate cancer begin at age 50. If you have a family history of colon cancer or are of African-American descent, you should consider beginning screening at age 45.
Conflicting studies have emerged about the effectiveness of prostate-specific antigen screening for prostate cancer, however, GCS recommends annual screenings after the age of 50.
